After several months of negotiation and deliberation well known local businessman Andrew Foreman together with his partner Britt O'Sullivan and Paul and Phil Lee of the Cropton Brewery took full vacant possession of The Pickering Showground and Arena as of Monday 17th August 2009.
This will become part of Andrew Foreman's business portfolio, Catfoss Group. The move to save Pickering Showground also means the famous Pickering Traction Engine Rally recently held at Pickering Showground can return to its home next year.
Catfoss Group wishes to make it very clear that it holds no responsibility or liability to any of the events, promoters, creditors or contracts associated with Pickering Showground and the Arena before the 17th August 2009.
Andrew Foreman along with his management team, headed up by his partner Britt O'Sullivan are in discussions with the organisers of the Pickering Traction Engine Rally with regards to securing it for 2010.
"We are aware of the financial difficulties surrounding this year's Traction Engine Rally. Obviously as the new owners we wish to avoid any negative press with regards to The Traction Engine Rally in 2010. We are therefore offering our support to the organisers and those individuals who have come forward wanting to salvage the Traction Engine Rally. This will hopefully create a consortium of appropriate expertise to run the event next year. We believe the Traction Engine Rally is a fabulous weekend event for all the family and will endeavour to do our upmost to help support its future." says Andrew Foreman.
Plans are in place to complete the infrastructure to the main events building and to the site grounds. In addition and subject to planning, there will be a 5 phase development plan over 5 years, thus creating investment and funding opportunities.
Events at Pickering Showground will continue to thrive and grow with diversity. The newly established Pickering Events Team will also host its own events bringing a new and exciting dimension to entertainment in the area. Andrew Foreman and Britt O'Sullivan believe developing the Pickering Showground will increase tourism to the area and create employment opportunities.
